How to Boost Your Confidence Before a Photo
Shoot.
Whether
you’re a model, a parent at a family photoshoot, a college graduand, A bride or
Groom at your wedding or you just looking to take some self-portraits there is
one thing you should always carry to your photo-shoot and that is…………….. Your
Confidence!
Your
confidence makes you look radiant in your photos. Never worry about your flaws;
Photoshop can be used to hide the most unwanted and outstanding flaws. However no
amount of photographic trickery will create a natural expression, a genuine
glow, or that inner radiance that sparkles from the eyes of a confident person.
All
of those things come from you. The camera simply records them – it can’t
manufacture them. This is perhaps why being in front of the camera can be so intimidating.
When
preparing for your photo shoot, the make-up artist and hairstylist (although I
can recommend excellent ones) are not the most important. The true tips that
can improve your confidence before a photo shoot are:
- Take care of your body. Get lots of sleep, drink plenty of water, eat fresh foods, and exercise. At least do this for one week before the shoot.
- . Do something extra special the day before – preferably an experience. Go to your favourite Spa, watch a movie, go shopping, play golf. Volunteer for your favourite charity. Hike a trail. Give yourself a very fresh story to tell so you have something fun to think and talk about during your shoot.
- Create a feel-good playlist of your favourite song tracks. If your shoot is outdoors, be sure to play your playlist on the way to the shoot so the songs are running through your mind.
- Take a deep breath and savour your compliments. You can even write them down and carry with you to the shoot.
- Share your hopes and fears with your photographer. Let them know you are trusting them, in spite of your insecurities, and ask them to guide you through. Be open to suggestion & to try the photographer’s suggestions, even if they don’t feel totally normal.
- Remember to focus on how you feel. The camera is a magical device that records feelings. If you feel good, you look good.
Remember
feeling good physically is just as important as feeling good emotionally and
mentally. So feel your real smile, bubbling up from within. Take a deep breath,
LOVE yourself and have your photo taken.
